“An interesting affair between currents & rapids”
Take on the foamy wrath of rapids with fearful names such as Head Chopper, Killer Falls and Rib Cage as you experience the exhilaration of a white water rafting adventure down the Kelani River in central Sri Lanka. With its source in the sacred Sri Pada Mountain Range, this 145km river descends from the misty mountains through a rocky gorge to your starting point just above Kithulgala, a small village famous for its association with David Lean’s 1957 epic World War II classic, Bridge on the River Kwai.
Offering fun for the whole family, for couples and groups of friends, the grade three rapids of this famous river are ideal for rafters of all abilities, from beginners through to advanced. Our rafting rides are hosted by professionally trained and experienced guides so that they offer our clients safety as well as fun. A briefing is given prior to the river run with instructions on paddling techniques and ‘man over board’ procedures. End your action-packed one-and-a-half to two hours (approx) journey with a hot gourmet feast at our scenic restaurant overlooking the river.
